A self-taught jeweler, Peter Handler worked his way through a Master of Fine Arts degree selling his creations. It was at Rochester Institute of Technology that Handler discovered aluminum. Soon he began creating aluminum jewelry with colorful epoxy inlays and by chance, created a table on commission. Twenty five years later, Handler still incorporates aluminum into all his furniture pieces. This sofa is no exception. The legs are aluminum. Handler describes the unifying element in all his work from jewelry to tables to sofas as a "search for color". The artist's eye is obvious in the rich color choices Vista Sofa. Handler also hopes that his furniture will be timeless in both style and construction. Sofas are built with hardwood, corner-blocked frames, double doweled and screwed together for strength. The seat deck has 8-way, hand-tied coil springs. Choose down or foam cushions.
