Made with figured walnut, this piece is a reproduction of the first Duncan Phyfe Rolltop Desk, circa 1830. The New Jersey shop that makes this piece has (and uses) a massive collection of 18th Century handmade woodworking tools. According to the business's owner, this desk represents more than 200 hours of carpentry and craftsmanship, including hand-fluted turnings and carvings and a wide variety of hand-carved joints. The finish is a natural shellac. Lead time is about three months.
