Shown here with bonsai and mother-of-pearl inlays, this hand-built executive's desk is made at a custom wood art studio in Thailand. Part of the Signature Collection, the desk is made with rosewood, a hardwood obtained from Burma's forests. According to the manufacturer, rosewood is harvested in an environmentally-sensitive (and ancient) manner. Elephants are used to tromp logs out of the forests, minimizing damage to surrounding plant life. Because this desk is handcrafted, it can be made to order in several sizes or with any one of 4,000 unique inlays, from corporate logos to topless mermaids.
