The earliest Black Forest cuckoo clocks date back to the mid 1600s and were made entirely of wood. This contemporary reproduction has an eight-day movement (made by German clock maker Romba) that is driven by the two (cast metal) pine-cone weights. The dial is wooden and the leaves and pendulum are hand carved from lindenwood (an Asian hardwood). If you'd rather that your cuckoo doesn't coo, there's a nighttime shutoff lever.
