Vermont Clock Company, based in Alburgh, Vermont, builds reproduction Grandfather Clocks, closely patterned after 18th century designs.
Clock bodies are made from hardwoods such as American Black Cherry, Tiger Maple, Birdseye Maple and Mahogany. Mortise and tenon or dovetailing are used for joinery.
The clock face consists of a wooden dial with hand-painted numerals. Custom designs are also available. All clock hardware is solid brass.
Their "Connecticut Shell Carved" clock features an ornately-carved, triple-pedimented bonnet with a hand-carved sea-scallop on the front of the trunk's casing. The movement is German-made (Hermle) and the two-weight cable-driven movement needs to be wound once every eight days.
